Engineering Administrator (Part Time)
21 hours per week
Salary: £21,216 per annum (pro-rata)
The PLA is a self-financing Statutory Authority with responsibility for running the UK’s premier port, maintaining the safety of navigation throughout its limits and for the conservancy of 150 km. of the tidal River Thames.
Working within the Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Department, the successful candidate will be responsible for general administration and secretarial duties in support of the management team, including updating and maintaining the department’s computer based maintenance software system, monitoring the PLA’s defect reporting system and occasionally providing reception and stores admin cover. Candidates must be self-motivated, quick to learn and proactive in their work ethic.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate knowledge of and experience in the following:
- General office based machines, PC’s photocopier & printers etc.
- MS Office suite or similar and familiarity with the Agresso system is desirable.
- Purchasing and basic accounting systems and processes.
The successful candidate will educated to at least GCSE grade C (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics and have a secretarial qualification. Experience of office administration, reception and telephonist routines is essential.
Normal hours of work are 21 per week on a five day working week basis. Although there is a requirement for attendance five days per week, ideally mornings, the final arrangement is open for discussion but an agreed regular pattern will be required.
