Based at Denton Wharf, Gravesend

Salary: £22,611 per annum (inclusive of overtime allowance)

From Teddington, past the Thames Barrier and out to sea, we work closely with commercial recreational and amenity groups to maximise the potential of the Thames as a safe and enjoyable waterway for trade, tourism and leisure.

This post sits within our Marine Stores function and is responsible for supporting the Purchasing and Contracts Manager in the control of inventory and stores management.

The successful candidate will be working as part of a small team to help run a safe, tidy, efficient and well stocked warehouse in accordance with the needs of the business.

A clean current driving licence is essential for delivery work within the Port of London Authority’s district and there is a requirement to operate a fork lift truck (for which training will be provided). Candidates will be required to manually handle and transport loads up to 20kg both in Stores and at remote PLA sites.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and diligent individual who is educated to at least GCSE standard (or equivalent), with Grade C in English and Mathematics. You will also have a basic knowledge engineering materials and spare parts, with experience of this type of work gained in a similar environment. Computer skills in Microsoft Office package are essential, as is neat handwriting and a working knowledge of the Agresso stock control system would be an advantage. Other duties include goods-in checking and receipt, picking, packing and dispatching goods.

Although normal hours of work are 35 per week on a day-work basis, there is a requirement for additional attendance outside this period, to cover operational requirements.
