Biodiversity Impacts - Actions and Recommendations
Introduction
The purpose of this section is to ensure that the PLA complies with its statutory duties and responsibilities for nature conservation, factors conservation considerations into emergency responses, and where appropriate maximises opportunities for biodiversity gain within the scope of port activity.
It looks at the potential impacts, both positive and negative, of the PLA’s activities under a number of headings:
- Port operations under normal conditions
- Regulatory Functions and Third Party Developments
- Research and Monitoring
- Port operations in emergency situations
In each case an assessment has been made of the potential issues for biodiversity and a number of recommendations have been made. Where relevant, the statutory drivers influencing operations or requiring action have been identified.
