Environmental Management System

The Port of London Authority places importance on complying with its responsibilities to the natural, human and built environment, and has procedures and measures in place to minimise environmental impacts arising from its activities.

The PLA has an environmental management system (EMS) certified to the requirements of ISO 14001:2015 by Alcumus ISOQAR.

An EMS allows the PLA to manage our environmental responsibilities in a systematic way.

The PLA Environmental Policy guides how we improve our environmental performance, ensure compliance obligations are met and achieve our environmental objectives.

The PLA is a member of EcoPorts which is the main environmental initiative of the European port sector, integrated into the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO).  EcoPorts aim to share knowledge between ports to improve environmental management.  An annual Environnmental Report presents the environmental performance based on selected benchmark indicators.
