The Zoological Society of London (ZSL) is a wildlife conservation charity, working in over 50 countries around the world to protect a future for animals and their habitats. ZSL works on a range of conservation projects in the UK, one of which is focused on protecting the species within the Thames. By working with partners and volunteers, ZSL is actively working to improve the ecology of the estuary and the wider river catchment. By improving knowledge of the species that live in the Thames they are better armed to develop strategies to conserve them. You can find out more about ZSL's Thames projects and their work all around the world here https://www.zsl.org/regions/uk-europe/thames-conservation.
