Marine Engineering Superintendent



(Gravesend, Kent)

Salary: £48,863 per annum (Inclusive of allowances)

This key management post is responsible for maintaining the appropriate documentation, the material state and availability of the PLA’s fleet of salvage and environmental protection vessels, barges and pontoons, navigation and mooring buoys and other port-related equipment and systems. As well as managing your delegated budgets, contractors and the commercial refits of PLA vessels and craft, you will work with the Workshop Supervisor to deploy the Department’s team of Engineering Technicians effectively, to ensure maximum, and cost effective, availability of PLA resources, and assist in the recruiting and training of new members of technical staff.

Self-motivated with technical proficiency, preferably you will be educated to degree level in a relevant electro/mechanical engineering discipline, with at least five years appropriate experience. Alternatively a relevant engineering qualification with extensive (at least 10 years) appropriate experience may be taken into consideration. Ideally an Incorporated Engineer, you will have experience of accomplishing high-quality results within a culture of compliance with health & safety, quality and environmental management. You will have a good working knowledge of the MCA Workboat Code, Lloyd’s “Class” requirements and PLA licensing requirements.
