Starting salary: £47,306 per annum (inclusive of allowances)
The PLA’s core responsibility is the facilitation of navigational safety and management of marine operations in its area of jurisdiction. In meeting its obligations under the Port Marine Safety Code, the PLA co-ordinates and maintains the ports navigational safety management system, of which a key element is its Vessel Licensing regime.
Due to a recent internal promotion, we are actively looking for a Marine Surveyor. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and delivery of the Vessel Licensing regime, conducting inspections throughout the PLA’s area of jurisdiction and an occasion in adjacent ports in the south east. The job holder will be required to represent the Authority, both locally and nationally, on vessel licensing matters as necessary.
Candidates should have a maritime background and hold as a minimum a National Graduate Diploma in Marine Surveying (or equivalent); together with extensive relevant survey experience in ship construction.
You must have the ability to work under pressure and independently, especially in the field; and to show initiative and drive. Candidates must be physically fit, have experience of, and training for, work in confined spaces and have a clean driving licence.
