Seago Line Launches New Service at Tilbury

New route will deliver fruits of the season from Morocco.
Seago Line, the short-sea haul specialist which is part of the Maersk Group, is to launch a new service calling at Tilbury’s London Container Terminal from 1st May.
The arrival of the WES Carina this week with her cargo of fresh tomatoes and citrus fruits from Morocco marks the start of the service call which will see ships arriving at LCT on a weekly basis each Thursday, bringing tonnes of fresh produce for the UK market.
Commenting on the new service, Perry Glading, Chief Operating Officer at Forth Ports (owners of Port of Tilbury and LCT) said: “We are delighted to welcome Seago Line to Tilbury with this new service call. Tilbury is a reefer handling specialist and coupled with our unrivalled infrastructure and connectivity to the UK market this fresh seasonal produce will reach the market quickly.”
Robert Clegg, UK and Ireland general manager for Seago Line, said: “It’s important that fresh produce reaches the UK market as fast as possible. We’ve chosen Tilbury for its key location and efficiency in handling the specialist product. We look forward to working with the team at LCT over the coming months.”
