Salary £38,998 per annum Inclusive (after training)
As a London VTS Officer, you will be a responsible, disciplined and team oriented individual focussed on ensuring the safety and efficiency of navigation of a diverse range of commercial and leisure vessels in a VTS area of some 600 square miles.
You will deal on a daily basis with the general public, berth operators and emergency services as well as communicating extensively with senior management, marine pilots, the harbour patrol service and other internal PLA departments.
It is essential that you have the ability to operate and interpret state of the art radar, AIS, CCTV and communication systems. You will have the aptitude to make and communicate authoritative operational traffic management decisions in both routine and non routine circumstances to ensure the safety and efficiency of navigation in a high profile waterway.

To apply, you should hold an MCA and IALA approved V-103/1 VTS Operator qualification. Alternately, you should hold a recognised marine qualification at STCW, BML or RYA level and have the aptitude to successfully complete a formal training programme culminating in the issue of an MCA and IALA approved V-103/1 qualification.
The successful candidate will be expected to work at both the Port Control Centre (Gravesend) and the Thames Barrier Navigation Centre (Woolwich).
