London2Paris Rowing Challenge

In 1999 a team of rowers successfully broke the record for rowing from Westminster Bridge in London to Pont D'léna (Eiffel Tower) in Paris, a total distance of 417 nautical miles. This was the inspiration behind the London 2 Paris Rowing Challenge.

The Challenge is run over a series of timed stages with a points system so each stage will therefore produce a winning crew, but the cumulative time for each boat will decide the overall winner. Each team consists of twelve rowers with up to seven in the boat (six rowers and a cox) at any one time. All crews use matched Thames Waterman Cutters.

The 2010 event will start from Westminster Bridge on the morning of Sunday 9th May and is scheduled to finish at the Eiffel Tower early on Saturday 15th May.
