You are here >> Events >> Leigh Fishing Festival
Leigh Fishing FestivalThe Festival is organised by Leigh-on-Sea Town Council and aims to increase public awareness of the local fishing and cockling industries and related activities in the town. Fishermen are on hand to talk about the industry and how it has changed over the years. There is also the opportunity to see fishing boats of all ages and types and find out how fish gets from the sea to the table. There will be free cockle tasting and various other events demonstrating the connection of man, boat and sea. The 2009 Festival took place on Sunday 23rd August from 12 noon to 5pm. The PLA's Mobile Unit was in attendance throughout the event so visitors could find out more about what we do for the River Thames. Information about the 2010 event will appear here when known.
