Black history summer programme

Museum logoCome along to the Museum in Docklands this summer to find out more about the hidden histories of slavery and hear the stories of forgotten heroes. There is also the chance to learn more about contemporary black history from the Windrush to powerful writers. Don't forget to visit the recently opened London, Sugar & Slavery gallery which looks at London's role in the transatlantic slave trade.

Storytelling - Hidden stories, Unheard Voices (7+)

Listen to one of the inspiring stories of dreams and freedom from the time of slavery performed by Sandra Agard.

Remember the Windrush (16+)

A memorial event with the Windrush Foundation to mark both the 60th anniversary of the arrival of the Windrush, and UNESCO international Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade

Drama - Running a 1000 miles to freedom (7+)

Discover the inspiring story of Ellen Craft, the talk of Victorian London. Through Ellen's audacity and ingenuity she overcame many dangers to become a celebrated abolitionist.
