Pilotage Exemption Certificates (PEC's)Important note - applicants for a PEC must first register their intention to study, obtaining a PEC Reference Number against which their training trips may be recorded. Failure to do so may invalidate the application. For full details of the qualification criteria for a PEC (including areas and numbers of trips) please refer to current Pilotage Directions. The PLA offers a two-hour Introduction Course for PEC applicants at its Port Control Centre in Gravesend (cost available on request).
