Christmas Events at the Museum of London Docklands There will be a large range of Christmas themed events for all the family at the Museum in Docklands this December. Choose from storytelling sessions, musical fun or puppets as you step into the festive season and explore the history of London's docklands.
Monday 1st December
Toddlers and Carers Group
A session for children aged from 1 to 5 years and their carers involving soft play, rhyme time, play materials and refreshments.
Time: 10.15 am

Thursday 4th December
Under 5's Story Time
A short session of stories and rhymes led by one of the Museum's team in a gallery location.

Sailor's 1000 Stories
Join Museum staff for the Lighthouse Keeper's Story by David Armitage. It is Christmas Eve but there is a big storm and the Lighthouse Keeper cannot get home. How will he spend his Christmas?

Christmas Story Puppets
Enjoy a Christmas themed story and make a puppet of your favourite Christmas character to take home.

Use the paintings and drawings on display in the Museum's new London Sugar and Slavery Gallery to follow the history of the sugar trade and find out how it changed the world.

A gentle drop-in session for babies aged 6 to 18 months and their carers held in the Museum's Mudlarks Gallery. The session will include soft play, rhyme time and an opportunity to meet others in a relaxed setting.

Christmas Pomanders
Recreate the spicy smells of the dock warehouses as you make a pomander. Using spices and fruit once brought into the docks from overseas you can use your pomander as a Christmas tree decoration or to take home as a gift.

The Pocahontas Story
In December 1606 a group of English settlers left London for the New World. Captain John Smith sailed with them and, in a fascinating account of his experiences, claimed that Proncess Pocahontas saved him from execution. Find out the real story.

Sailor's 1000 Stories
Meet Maeve the Victorian pub landlady in Sailortown. Drop in for a chat in her cosy Sailortown pub and you'll find she has some amazing stories to tell.
