Docklands History Group

The Docklands History Group is an enndependent body established in 1979 to encourage greater understanding of all aspects of the Port of London and the maritime, industrial and social history of the River Thames, together with its continuing development. Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of the month (except January) at 6.pm at the Museum of London Docklands.

Walk - Old Chinatown

The first Chinatown was in Limehouse - Pennyfields and Limehouse Causeway. Discover the history of the settlement of the Chinese community in East London through this walk.

Chinese Watercolour Painting (age 4+)

Create watercolour masterpieces to celebrate Chinese New Year

February is LGBT month and to celebrate we are showing a triple bill of some of the best in queer film alongside a short talk by the multi-award winning writer of Beautiful Thing, Jonathan Harvey.

London Forever (age 5+)

London is forever - from the Romans to the Olympics. Celebrate London as a centre of global trade, industry, the arts and sport. In the run up to the Olympics, help create an animation that reflects London as a melting pot of cultures and traditions.

Sunday 13th February

Walk - Write Queer Bloomsbury

Explore Bloomsbury's gay history with Paul Burston, author, journalist and host of London's gay literary salon Polari.

Peg Pirates (age 5+)

Many Victorian children in London could rarely afford toys. If they were very lucky they might be able to make themselves simple toys, such as peg dolls, from materials they found. Make your own peg pirate to take home.
