Navigational Incidents and Reporting
All navigational incidents are fully investigated by the Harbour Masters. Some incidents are also investigated by the Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB), which is part of the Department for Transport (DfT).
When necessary the PLA convenes a Navigational Advisory Panel (NAP), consisting of practising mariners whose knowledge and experience is relevant to the nature of any particular hazard, risk control measure or new circumstance, following any incident or change in circumstances.
