Order Now PLA Pageant DVD Take a behind-the-scenes look at the staging of the biggest public event ever held on the tidal Thames – the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant. The 40 minute film, ‘The PLA’s Pageant’, documents the authority’s work to plan, prepare and co-ordinate the safety of the Royal spectacular which involved 1,000 boats and 20,000 people on the water. It includes unique footage of rehearsals, vessel checks and inside the PLA’s control centre, where the event was run from on the day. Two years in the planning, the event was devised by the Thames Diamond Jubilee Foundation. Responsibility for ensuring the procession’s smooth running fell to the PLA, working with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, RNLI, police, fire brigade, passenger boat operators, Environment Agency, ambulance service, and specialists from the recreational boating world. This DVD is a ‘must have’ for fans of Royalty, pageant spectators and participants alike.
