Notice to Mariners

L7 of 2007  Establishment of Navigation Buoys to Mark The Channel in Holehaven Creek from Western Entrance to Reclamation Wharf (Pitsea Land Fill)

Eight small lit navigation buoys consisting of seven port & one starboard hand buoys will be laid from the western entrance off Holehaven Creek on the 18th October 2007 to mark the channel to Reclamation wharf, known as Pitsea landfill operated by Veolia.

Buoy positions
Western Channel Entrance

Shellhaven Point port hand buoy FL R 6 secs off Shellhaven point.

No 1 port hand buoy QR

Lower Horse

No 2 starboard hand buoy QG at the intersection of western & eastern channel.

Upper Horse (north)

No 3 port hand buoy FL R 2 secs

No 4 port hand buoy FL R 4 secs

No 5 port hand buoy FL R 2 secs close by Westwick jetty.

No 6 port hand buoy QR

No 7 port hand buoy FL R 6 secs opposite Easthaven Barrier.

Between No 7 buoy and Reclamation wharf (Pitsea Landfill) a speed limit of 3 knots is established for barge traffic so as to minimise wash disturbance to mudflats close by.

In addition a mooring buoy for barge traffic to Reclamation wharf is shortly to be laid behind Chain Rock Jetty close by Targe tug moorings.
