Notice to Mariners

M1 of 2006  Battersea Shoal - Channel Alignment

Recent hydrographic surveys indicate a slight overall change in depths upstream of Battersea Road Bridge from those shown on the most recently published PLA chart No. 314.  However, there is a general drift of the shoal requiring the nominal channel to be re-aligned.

The chartlet  shows the nominal navigation channel moved approximately 10 metres to the North West to clear the one metre contour.  Masters of craft navigating in the vicinity must take this into account when navigating in Battersea and Chelsea Reaches.

River Users should also note that the Battersea Shoal has a general tendency to migrate 50 – 100 metres up and downstream.  The chartlet shows the worst extent of the shoal in its downstream location.
