Notice to Mariners

Taking into account the advances in telecommunications, and the prevalence of facsimile and email, the PLA has decided to discontinue its telex facility upon the expiry of its present contract.

With effect from the 1st March 2008, telex 262880 PLATNS G will not be available.

Ships still using telex as their primary means of communication are recommended to use a London agent which supports telex, who is able to convert the message to fax or email and forward it to PLA.

Users are reminded that although generally good, timely email delivery is not a certainty.  Where receipt is in doubt, it is best followed up by a telephone call.
