Notice to Mariners

M10 of 2008  Cruise Ship Operations in Greenwich Reach and the Upper Pool

The Mobile Cruise Terminal “WELCOME” will normally be moored on the southern edge of the Navigable Channel in Greenwich Reach and in the Upper Pool.  All vessels are to navigate with caution when passing or manoeuvring in the vicinity of the “WELCOME”.

When a passenger vessel is using Greenwich Ship Tier or Tower Bridge Lower Moorings the “WELCOME” will be moored to the south side of the passenger vessel by wires from the “WELCOME”.  Whilst the “WELCOME” is being winched across the channel and alongside the passenger vessel the channel to the south of the passenger vessel will be closed to all craft.  All vessels are to pass to the north of Greenwich Ship Tier and Tower Bridge Lower Mooring until the “WELCOME” has been secured alongside the passenger vessel.

All vessels should be aware that there will be frequent boat movements to and from the “WELCOME” for the duration of the passenger vessels call.

Once operations have been completed the south channel will be closed to all craft to allow the “WELCOME” to winch itself back onto its mooring.

A Harbour Service Launch will be in attendance to control traffic movements whilst the “WELCOME” is being moved to and from its mooring, further details will be promulgated by London VTS on VHF Channel 14.
