The Port of London Authority provides public ship and craft moorings ‘PLA moorings’ at various locations throughout the river.
The available PLA ship moorings are listed in the 2008 edition of ‘PLA Tide Tables and Port Information’.
Additional short term and non commercial moorings are operated by the Port of London Authority at various locations throughout the river. Details of these short term and non commercial moorings are available on the Port of London Authorities website or via ‘London VTS’.
Any vessel or craft wishing to use any PLA mooring must obtain permission from the appropriate VTS centre, call sign ‘London VTS’ in advance of the vessel or craft using the mooring. ‘London VTS’ must be notified of the vessel or craft’s arrival date and time and the anticipated date and time of departure from the PLA mooring.
‘London VTS’ must be notified again when the vessel or craft leaves the PLA mooring.
Notifications to ‘London VTS’ can be made by VHF radio or telephone.
Charges apply for the use of all PLA moorings. Charges apply to vessels or craft using PLA moorings for any purpose including discharging and/or loading cargo; awaiting a berth; embarking or disembarking passengers; laying up overnight; laying up for repairs, bunkering or sale; or for holding exhibitions or events.
