Notice to Mariners

No.13 of 2008  New Waste Transfer Jetty for Riverside Resource Recovery Ltd

On about 18 August 2008, for a period of about 12 months, construction work on the new waste transfer jetty for Riverside Resource Recovery Limited will commence in Halfway Reach on the South Bank opposite Ford’s jetty on the old Borax wharf site.  The jetty will extend out from the shore line approx 150 metres and have a frontage of 270 metres.

Piling and heavy lift operations will be carried out from crane barges moored on anchors and stud piles.  Materials and equipment will be transhipped by barge from Anchor Bay wharf Erith, to the worksite.

Barges at anchor will be lit at night and display navigation warning signals in accordance with International Collision Regulations Rule 27(d) and the Port of London River Byelaws.

Safety boats will be in attendance maintaining a continuous VHF watch on VHF Channel 14.

Further details will be broadcast by London VTS on VHF Channel 14.

Vessels are to navigate with caution and proceed at slow speed when passing the site.
