River closures Autumn 2008.
The river will be closed to navigation between Mortlake and Putney for the Autumn Head of the River Races as follows:

Vessels navigating in the area are warned that large numbers of rowing craft will be encountered before and after the closure times. All vessels are to proceed with extreme caution.
Harbour Service launches exhibiting flashing blue lights will mark the limits of the closures and no craft other than race safety and marshalling craft shall be underway on the courses whilst the races are in progress. London VTS will broadcast any additional information on VHF Channel 14.
Rowing craft not participating in the races must be clear of the closed areas 1 hour before the race start times.
Owners of vessels attending the events which will carry more than 12 passengers or spectators, in addition to the normal crew, are advised to ensure that a valid MCA passenger certificate is exhibited on board.
Further details of each river closure are as follows:
Pairs Head – Saturday 11th October
1415 to 1630
(rowed on the ebb tide Mortlake to Hammersmith)
No vessel may pass upstream of Hammersmith Bridge after 1415 until the last competing crew has arrived at Hammersmith.
No vessel may pass downstream of KewRailwayBridge after 1430 until the last competing crew has left Mortlake.
Racing pairs will be marshalled on both sides of the river between BarnesBridge and KewRailwayBridge from approximately 1430.
The race will start at 1500 in a position downstream from ChiswickBridge.
The river will remain closed until the last competitor has completed at Hammersmith, expected to be at approximately 1630.
Head of the River Fours - Saturday 8th November
0930 to 1230
(rowed on the ebb tide Mortlake to Putney)
No vessel may pass upstream of Fulham Rail Bridge after 0930 until the last competing crew has arrived at Putney.
No vessel may pass downstream of Brentford Dock after 0945 until the last competing crew has left Mortlake.
Racing fours will be marshalled on both sides of the river between ChiswickBridge and KewRoadBridge, from approximately 1000.
The race will start at 1030 in a position downstream from ChiswickBridge.
The river will remain closed until the last competitor has completed at Putney, expected to be at approximately 1230.
Veterans’ Fours Head - Sunday 9th November
1100 to 1330
(rowed on the ebb tide Mortlake to Putney)
No vessel may pass upstream of FulhamRailBridge after 1100 until the last competing crew has arrived at Putney.
No vessel may pass downstream of KewRailwayBridge after 1115 until the last competing crew has left Mortlake.
Racing fours will be marshalled on both sides of the river between ChiswickBridge and KewRailBridge, from approximately 1130.
The race will start at 1200 in a position downstream from ChiswickBridge.
The river will remain closed until the last competitor has completed at Putney, expected to be at approximately 1330.
Scullers Head of the River Race – Saturday 6th December
0900 to 1200
(rowed on the ebb tide Mortlake to Putney)
No vessel may pass upstream of FulhamRailwayBridge after 0900.
No vessel may pass downstream of Kew Railway Bridge after 0915.
Racing sculls will be marshalled on the Surrey side of the river between Barnes Railway and Chiswick Bridges and the Middlesex side of the river below Barnes Bridge and above Chiswick Pier from approximately 0930.
The race will start at 1000 in a position downstream from Chiswick Bridge.
The river will remain closed until the last competitor has completed at Putney, expected to be at approximately 1200.
