No 21 of 2009  High Speed Craft - Flashing Amber Lights

 

 

HIGH SPEED CRAFT – FLASHING AMBER LIGHTS

With effect from 26 October 2009; all High Speed Craft (HSC) coded vessels operating within the jurisdiction of the Port of London Authority shall display the following identification light:

 

A flashing amber light visible all round the horizon at a range of at least 2 miles.

The flashing light shall have the same flashing rate as defined in International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea 1972, as amended, (COLREG), Rule 21(f) namely, flashing at regular intervals at a frequency of 120 flashes or more per minute.

In all circumstances the flashing amber light shall be so placed as to be clear of all other lights and obstructions.

The flashing light is to be displayed at all times whenever a HSC coded vessel is underway below Cherry Garden Pier.  Above Cherry Garden Pier a HSC coded vessel shall show the normal lights and signals for vessels of its class

The identifying flashing amber light shown in the manner described in this Notice DOES NOT relieve these vessels of taking any action required by COLREGs, Port of London Authority Byelaws, Directions or Notices.
