Brentford Waterside Festival Offers Free Fun for all the Family

With all the colour and splendour of a carnival, the food and drink of a farmers’ market and the sounds and entertainment of a street party, the Brentford Waterside Festival taking place on Saturday 27 May of the bank holiday weekend is set to be a dazzling affair.

The event, which is organised by British Waterways London, sponsored by ISIS Waterside Regeneration and supported by St George, will take place from 11am to 5pm around the Brentford Lock area in West London and is free of charge and open to everyone.  The festival programme includes street entertainment, live music, a farmers’ market, craft stalls, boat trips, children’s activities and much more.

Louise Fishleigh, recreation manager for British Waterways London, explains:

“The waterways have played an important part in the growth of Brentford since Roman times and in the last few years the Brentford Lock development has revitalised this gateway to the canal network.  We hope the Brentford Waterside Festival, which will include a host of free activities for all the family, will provide a fantastic day out for local people and offer them the chance to find out more about all the improvements that have taken place.”

Wayland Pope, Regional Managing Director for ISIS Waterside Regeneration, says:

“We are delighted to be sponsoring this fantastic free family event and we are looking forward to playing a major role in the transformation of Brentford’s waterside, creating places for people to live, work and, importantly, play.”

Ian Dobie, Managing Director of St George West London, says:

"St George has been working in the London Borough of Hounslow since we were formed 20 years ago.  Brentford Lock and Heron View are the latest additions to our portfolio and are wonderful examples of mixed-use waterside Regeneration.  We are delighted that this development has been chosen to host the first ever Waterside Festival in Brentford."

ISIS Waterside Regeneration

City living is evolving. So too must the way we approach urban development. We need to move away from an over-reliance on the investor market and first-time buyers in the 20 to 35year old bracket, towards creating family based communities for the future.

ISIS is leading this change, delivering vibrant waterside places and communities across nine British towns and cities.  We are doing this through a commitment to high quality and well-designed public realm around complementary uses - leisure, hotels, residential, businesses and retail.

Our motivation is to create great places to live, work, play and relax so that we make the most of our natural waterside environment for everyone's enjoyment.  Because of this, 50% of our returns are re-invested by British Waterways in the maintenance and enhancement of the entire UK waterway network.
