Trainee "tripping" restarts

On-river training for our newest pilots, restricted by the pandemic, has resumed this month.

Marine pilotage manager, Dave Newbury said: “Known as ‘tripping’, this essential training, gives our latest recruits, appointed in February, the chance to learn under the guidance of a more experienced colleague. “It’s good to have them out on the Thames, developing their practical knowledge of the river.”

“More trainee pilots are due to join the PLA in June, to make sure we can continue to provide a reliable service for customers in the years ahead.”
